Paste Contemporary Thai Cuisine

Located in Nottingham’s bustling Lace Market district at 16-20a Carlton St, NG1 1NN, Paste Contemporary Thai Cuisine brings a refreshing and modern twist to traditional Thai dining. With its sleek interior design, creative menu, and attention to authentic flavours, the restaurant has quickly become a destination for those seeking both innovation and comfort in Thai food.

From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere sets the tone for a sophisticated yet relaxed dining experience. Minimalist décor accented with warm lighting creates a contemporary backdrop that pairs beautifully with the bold and colourful plates served from the kitchen. It’s a restaurant equally suited for casual lunches, romantic dinners, or evenings out with friends.

The Paste Contemporary Thai Cuisine menu balances authenticity with creativity. Starters such as chicken satay skewers with rich peanut sauce or crispy spring rolls highlight familiar favourites, while more inventive options like soft-shell crab tempura show off the kitchen’s modern edge. Each dish is carefully plated, combining style with substance.

Mains offer both traditional and signature choices. Classics like green curry with chicken, Pad Thai noodles, and Massaman curry deliver comforting flavours rooted in Thai tradition. Meanwhile, specialty dishes—such as pan-seared sea bass with lemongrass sauce or beef short rib slow-cooked in aromatic spices—demonstrate the restaurant’s creative flair. Spice levels can be tailored to suit diners’ preferences, making the menu approachable for both newcomers and seasoned Thai cuisine lovers.

Vegetarians and vegans will find plenty to enjoy, with dishes like tofu stir-fries, vegetable curries, and fragrant jasmine rice bowls. To complement the meal, the restaurant also offers a thoughtful drinks list, including cocktails infused with Thai herbs, Asian beers, and refreshing non-alcoholic options.

Service is consistently attentive and professional. Staff are knowledgeable about the menu and often provide helpful recommendations for pairing dishes or balancing spice levels. Many diners also highlight the speed of service, even on busy evenings, which adds to the overall quality of the experience.

With its combination of stylish presentation, authentic flavours, and inventive touches, Paste Contemporary Thai Cuisine stands out as more than just another Thai restaurant. It’s a place where tradition meets modern dining, making it a must-visit for anyone in Nottingham seeking Thai food with a contemporary twist.

The best restaurant I have been to for a while. I cannot recommend highly enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food looked better in real life than on the menu. Prices were reasonable. They got the spices just right.

Fancied some Tom Yum soup, popped in at 12pm to some really friendly staff and ordered a Thai Iced Tea too (really tasty). Highly recommend, will be back to try some more!

A huge choice of menu options. My Thai Green Curry was delicious with plenty of favour. It was really value for money costing only 13 pounds with rice included. The service delivered by the kind gentlemen was wonderful. He was so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was nicely decorated. I felt very much at home.
